TEAM
NAME
Initially the pair had proceeded unnamed – it was only
months later that they settled for Team Peach. Previously inspired by the
highlight color of their pair in the Excel file for grades, they afterwards
reasoned that peaches signified the sweetness – and also, seldom, the acidity –
of the founders’ personalities. :>
WHY
RAPD
We have no particular reason for choosing the elective, but
the name of the elective sounded professional. We also thought that joining the
elective may help in STR2.
Impressions
We were intrigued about the subject since it was new. We
assumed that the elective would be very similar to STR, but we soon realized
that it wasn’t quite the same. We also believe we were able to interact easily
with the classmates and teacher because of the small class size.
OUR
PROJECT
Our project dealt with the development of marketable lato or
seaweed balls. It was based on the original research by Arriola, Ebarle,
Libo-on, and Timbol in 2005 entitled Manufacture of Lato (Caulerpa racemosa) Seaweed Balls.
Three
TRAITS
- Determination!
- Cooperation!
- Kapal ng mukha.
EXPERIENCES
The field trip and the overnight were enjoyable experiences,
whilst the actual project implementation was the most challenging part for us.
The repeated trials to perfect the recipe needed a lot of effort and
perseverance.
memories
The most memorable classroom activity was the game/puzzle wherein we had to hold hands and untangle ourselves, because that was one of the first activities we had as a class. Whereas for the outdoor activities, we believe
that all of them carried memories worth remembering. :-bd
WHAT
MORE
We would have liked to meet with more marketing/sales experts
to help us in devising strategies to market our product. It will help us
understand how advertising works and the knowledge could be used further on in
life, particularly in business.
TO
FUTURE STUDENTS
RAPD is a fun elective, but it requires diligence and
perseverance. Implementing another STR project with the entire academic load in
fourth year can be stressful at times, but your hard work will be rewarding in
the end! (Get to know your classmates. There aren’t a lot of you, so you’ll be
interacting with those people quite often. Get along with them.)
