A Sweet Farewell~

Sweets

Sweets is often attributed to candies or any confectionary that kids love.  Aside from describing tastes, the word sweet can pertain to the scent of flowers.  We thought of sweets because our friends always tell us that we are sweet to them. The word "sweets" can be used to characterize both the creators and the product scent and we thought that it is the perfect group name for us.

Why RAPD?

STR is already a heavy load by itself so why did we choose to have a second STR-like subject?  First, we wanted something that can help us with our own STR projects.  Second, we wanted to learn how product development works. Lastly, we could earn money by the end of the year, so why not?

Impressions

RAPD is actually a lot of fun and the load was not as heavy as we thought. You get to work with almost everyone since there will not be a lot of you.  Also, there were many special activities we never really expected.  It is also surprising and satisfying to be able to apply STR, creativity, and econ all at the same time.

Solid Perfume

We just got the recipe over the internet from Martha Stewart's website and our project seemed pretty easy - we just based what oils to use from a previous project.  Although that was the case, we had to improve one major thing about our product - the dissipation of the scent.  We had to experiment with different ratios of ethanol to find out which amount works best.  It is also very frustrating as we had a lot of failed products since the recipe is ratio sensitive and the measurements had to be accurate.  We had a relatively easy start but mass production took the best of us.  It was the most patience-draining part of the experience but it was all worth it in the end. :D

Most Memorable Experience

The times we spent in the STR laboratory! Shh.. What happens in the lab, stays in the lab ;)

For All You Seniors

Join RAPD!  It's not as hard as most of you might think and it is full of surprises. ;)  We specially recommend this to those who likes research, business, and econ.  This elective will also spice up an otherwise boring YMSAT week for the seniors. :)
